Thanks for participating in the trivia event. :) Before posting answers, here is a short notice :

Many players shared their answers on a domain such as Facebook with multiple people and that is cheating since it is an individual event, sure you can take help but this is abusing. For that reason any person having posted an answer which has appeared more than 10 times, with the same font, same style, same typos, has been de-recognized to prevent abuse of this. More than 50 out of the approximately 275 participants didn't get rewards due to this fact. In future, I expect this not to happen again since rules may be stringent to avoid this. Don't try to trick me or any other host, since we can find out, also please do not post 2 IGNs.

Answer Key:

1. Identify the name of the Airline by looking at the photo

Ans.: Air New Zealand. Minor spelling errors were accepted. Almost all got it correct.

2. Identify the name of the Airport and its location by looking at the photo (both must be specified to get correct)

Ans.: Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) Mumbai. Some of you'll wrote the exact address, which wasn't needed. Since it is pretty big, it extends over various areas in Mumbai such as Andheri East, Santa Cruz, Vile Parle, Sahar, Saki Naka. Though, Sahar was the most appropriate one. Few just named the airport hence got wrong. And oh @Warriornator It is not  a train station and is not a UNESCO world heritage site. Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) is a train station is in South Mumbai, Fort. Incidentally, they were named after the same leader.

3. 3. A plane travels at 400 km/h on sector A to B. This happened due to a malfunctioning engine. Since, the flight was delayed, it returned from B to A at night at a higher speed to cover up for the delay. The average speed to and fro was 600 km/h. Calculate the speed from B to A. Consider the distance between the airports was exactly same and the time stationery at the airport was ignored. Your answer must be expressed in km/h.

Ans.: 1200km/h. Less than 25% got it correct, since speed has 2 variables in it - Distance & Time. So average speed is total distance upon total time and not a simple average. You'll could blame it on few who eagerly wanted a maths question, sadly, they too got it wrong. :D #Pinknoobsnotbetterthannooberators.

4. The horizontal stabiliser of an aircraft is located near the turbine engine of the aircraft. State True or False.

Ans.: Both were correct! :) Generally false, but since I didn't mention the type of plane, both are correct since trijets do have a turbine engine near the rudder which is extremely close to the horizontal stabilizer.

5. All engines on an aircraft fail with airport nearby and the aircraft has high altitude. What should be done (Select one option)

Ans.: (B) Slowly decrease altitude and glide. This is the most appropriate option since you need to glide to prevent a stall. Other option result in crash.

6. The flaps in an aeroplane are used to (Select one option)

Ans.: (D) To increase drag. They are used to increase drag when approaching a runway apart from creating lift. The other options were simply wrong.

7. How do airplanes go in reverse direction (Select on option)

Ans.: (A) With the help of a pushback tug. Airplanes need assistance to go backwards ;)

8. In two-engine aircraft, the left engine fails, what should be done (Select one option)

Ans.: (D) Tilt towards the right and maintain some speed and altitude. This was the correct answer since you always 'Raise the dead' engine. Other options result in tilting towards left which could result in loss of stability and potentially entering a deadly spiral.

9. State the full form of INS

Ans.: Inertial Navigation System. Any one who wrote extra by adding an 'or' got wrong since you cannot post endless options. It is an aviation trivia, so please use some brains and give proper answers. How could Indian Navy come into the picture?

10. State where the green light beacon is situated on an aircraft.

Ans.: Starboard Tip/Right Wing Tip.

Thanks to those who made me smile with their fun answers. :) It was nice to host it. See you soon!
