Auto cannon damage

Hi

as more as I look at the numbers I wonder if you have a specialist in “ in game economics” involved in this game or if you just used dice to get some numbers.

really this game is not a version 1.0 at this stage. It might be a public beta 1.0.

we already had that topic before. And I was a bit curious so I compared the max out of one star epic auto cannons that I have.

why the hack is a canon that is the lowest of its class more powerful and creates more damage then a later one? There is (beside accuracy) not a single value where the “higher” weapon is better.

the problem that you have now created is how to fix that?

people started to boost and fuse guns on those specs. If you would simply switch the values. People get angry as they boosted the wrong weapon (and maybe invested even real money). If you swap the order of those guns (and I am confident that those wouldn’t be the only ones that you have to adjust) again you will make people angry who thought “later is greater”.

from what I can see there is only an option via fusing and selling. We should be able to fuse weapons with some that have already boosted and make the resulting one profit from that.

also to sell weapons and get metal and bolts for it. To be fair slightly under what we have invested in them. Which leads to the next problem that we have only limited storage. So the resources that doesn’t fit into our storage should be sold as well and we should get gold for it. But here we should get 1:1 what we would pay if we buy metal. Otherwise we would get double punished.

Ok ranting is one thing admitting that I overlooked some points another.

the fire rate has an impact (bullets down the line per seconds) and the overheating is a significant factor.

two things that should be explained in a tutorial mission. Looking a k at the forum I’m not the only one who is confused with these two weapons. Looking at the rockets you will see a similar situation.

but these these conclusion make the “power” of a weapon even more confusing.

Yeah, there's some definite weirdness in the weapons catalogue.  I would expect the multi-barrel rotary cannons (5.56mm, 7.62mm and AC30) to be slower to overheat than the single barrel weapons (AC20 & AC25), as that's their raison d'être in real life.  The cooldown times would most likely correlate to 'barrel mass-to-surface area' ratio, which should theoretically give the little 5.56mm the edge, with the times getting worse as the guns get larger (though I stand to be corrected by someone with real weapons expertise -- I'm just generalising).

I haven't seen anyone mention the weirdness of the 40mm cannon names, either.  The "60 round" cannon holds 12 rounds, and the "70 round" cannon holds 9 rounds?!  Wtf?

I'm also curious as to whether Rarity only affects Damage.  Has anyone come across a weapon that merely has better accuracy, reload times or anything else other than damage?

That's not rarity but number of stars. You can see @Primathon's comprehensive list of all possible weapons with all possible rarities and stars here:

This mention of 60/70 on the cannon doesn't refer to the amount of rounds, but actually refers to the barrel length as is standard for artillery weapons.

In this case, the first weapon "40mm/60-RND Cannon" will be a 40mm round with a barrel length (caliber) which is 60x the round diameter. So for this one that's a 2400mm barrel length or 8ft.

Same method for the "40mm/70-RND Cannon" gives us a 40mm round still but this time the caliber is 70x so that gives us a 2800mm barrel or just over 9ft.

These specs are fairly tightly based on the original Bofors 40mm gun which was fitted to the original AC-130H gunship. :-)

AC damage issues were brought up well before launch, as early as April and continued on past 0.7 update.  Nikko replied with some interested yet somewhat vague answers:
