Path of an order not visible in certain cases

In the conquest map, when you have given an order to a soldier hero, and then bring up that order later again (to review or delete), the path is sometimes shown as a moving path of little white arrows, or sometimes not shown at all:

  • Click on a field with a hero who has an order assigned. Click the hero button below. In the list, click the order button on the right next to the hero. Result: the path is shown as a moving path of little white arrows.
  • Click on a field with an exclamation mark. Click on the orders button below the field. In the list , click the order button on the right next to the hero: Result: the path is not shown, but it is the UI to cancel an order, same as in case above.

You’re right, it is indeed inconsistent. We are currently discussing how/if the line should be displayed at all, since it sometimes also crosses impassable terrain.

To be honest, I tried to use the second approach (Click on a field with an exclamation mark.…) as a way to easily locate the current position of the player, but the lack of showing this arrowed path put an end to this idea. :grinning:

Either you could assume that all is player’s territory, then apply the same algorithm to calculate the path as if the player would move. However, this could be misleading or suggest a worse way than another.

I think it would be better to draw a strait or, better, curved line that still shows “from” and “to” fields, but also clearly indicates that it is no path suggestion, like this:
